It is said that the soul is the only part of the body that never dies. It collects all your achievements as light and all your failures as darkness. So, what happens when you seem to fail more than the average soul? How will you get out of the darkness alive? When will your light begin to shine through?
What if it never does? The reality of life is that some people live like this every single day. They are shrouded by the thickest of smoke. They are unable to see any light that may shine thus leaving them blind. Blind to the happiness that is so easily achievable. The brain only comprehends what it knows. The brain may wander here and there in a fantasy-like state but will eventually come back to its own self-induced nightmare. A nightmare where you are the hero and the villain…
A villain to yourself and to your family. The one who keeps everyone from moving forward whispering “what if’s” all day long. It is that voice in your head that keeps trying to make you believe that you are not enough. That face in the darkness that continues to haunt you and dim your light. Even when you are trying as hard as you can, you’ve been taken over. Taken over by all of the worry, all of your fears, every insecurity. The demon lurks behind you every chance it gets and you begin to feel the darkness surround you.
Just then you see the glimmer. That oh, so amazing glimmer of light that you have been searching for. You see it and you go for it. Reach for it and grab it. Do not let go of this light that you have found. Hold on tight and never allow it to dim.
Bring it closer to you and let it show you the way. The way out of the darkness and into the glorious world abundant with hope and opportunity. Go. Run.
Continue on your path to greatness and never look back. Forget about where you have been and begin to imagine where you can be. Trust in your abilities to survive, your friendships, and your family. Get those doubts out of your head and tel yourself and anything and everyone, that you can achieve greatness. Even when you do not believe it yourself, make others believe it.
You made it. You beat it. Now let the fun begin. Depression and anxiety will not win this time.
